Pediatric Cancer is the deadliest disease for children in the US, annually killing more kids than kidnapping, drug overdoses, gun-related deaths, and drowning combined. Yet despite this being such a serious threat, only 4% of our government’s cancer research funds are allocated to children’s cancer research. And now, with the current economic downturn, pediatric cancer researchers are facing unprecedented challenges. Who do we cut from our labs? Which young and talented scientist do we lose forever? How will we continue our life-saving research? All of these questions are both real and challenging to consider, but we have the ability to promote change! If there were ever a time to join together and support one another, it’s right now. 

So, to bring awareness to the children suffering from cancer, I will be buzzing my hair and raising money with the Unravel Pediatric Cancer Foundation in the process. 

The goal is $10,000, and with our combined effort, I know we will make it happen. Whether you donate $1, $100, or $1,000, every penny will help to make a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most. All funds we receive today will be given directly to Dr. Jim Olson and his research team at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Seattle Children’s Hospital) to keep them functioning and their groundbreaking experiments moving forward. There is no doubt your donations will save lives. 

Once my hair has been cut, it will be donated to Wigs for Kids in hopes of bringing a little joy into the life of a child experiencing chemotherapy. And lastly, as a lighthearted incentive, I will do a livestream of the haircut once the goal of $10,000 is reached.

The world is currently experiencing an undeniable period of difficulty, but with this difficulty comes opportunity for growth. We can’t have darkness without light, and we are all looking for ways to contribute during these tough times.
